You probably have heard about how good carrots are for your eyes but did you also know that they are just as good for your skin?
Carrots are high in beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant that converts to Vitamin A inside the body. Beta-carotene is essential for skin health because it helps with preventing cells from degenerating and slowing aging.
If you follow the latest trends in skin care you will find Vitamin A creams on every shelf from the dermatologist office to CVS and they are most commonly referred to as retinol creams. I have tried quite a few of these creams because I am that girl that likes to experiment with things for myself and determine if it works or not. The creams proved to be too strong for my skin and left me with dry patches and irritation and all of this with a pretty hefty price tag. Now I get all the Vitamin A I need directly from plant based sources such as carrots for roughly $1.99 a bag. I typically have a 16oz glass of cold-pressed, organic carrot juice every other day and it has done wonders for my skin.
